God jul {Kort & Godt}

Hi, crafty friends. I shared this very simple Christmas card on the Kort & Godt gallery blog last week, but thought I’d share here, as well.

I love the new image sheets from Kort & Godt, and the Christmas ones they just released are AWESOME! I used one of the blue ones for this card and decided to fussy cut the wreath. This is pretty easy to fussy cut leaving a white border. I used the Snowflake Oval Frame embossing folder from Simon Says Stamp on a piece of Fine Linen cardstock from Papertrey Ink to create some texture to my background. I cropped off quite a bit on the edges and used a blue cotton thread from Kort & Godt to add a little something to the design.

I mounted my embossed panel onto a card base I created from Blue Beyond cardstock from My Favorite Things. I used the same color cardstock to die cut my sentiment. I stacked two, so they would be a little sturdier, mounted the wreath in the top center, adhered God directly to the wreath and jul onto the embossed piece. And that’s it, I didn’t add any embellishments to this.

Kort & Godt products used:

MA1027 (image sheet with wreath)

DIE-347 (sentiment)

TR-115 blue cotton thread

Blooming Delight {Papiria}

Hi, crafty friends. I’m sharing two cards today, featuring the Blooming Delight set from Altenew. This is a bundle with a stamp aet, a die set and a stencil set that all coordinate. I used the stamps and dies for these cards.

The floral stamp in the stamp set is big!!! I stamped it using Extreme Black ink from My Favorite Things onto X-Press It blending card and colored it with Copics, before using the coordinating die to cut it out. It’s too big to fit on a standard size card, so I decided to cut it apart and got two cards from it.

On the first card, I stamped the floral image again, this time on Powder cardstock from Concord & 9th. I used Fadeout ink from Inkon3 because I wanted a super soft look that didn’t compete with the focal image.

I popped up the flower on foam tape, added a layered sentiment I created using the coordinating die set and finished off with a few ombré glitter drops from Pinkfresh Studio.

On the second card, I used the Angled Mosaic embossing folder on a quarter sheet of Aqua Sky cardstock from Concord & 9th. I stamped and white heat embossed a Kort & Godt sentiment onto a strip of black cardstock, added my cut flower behind it and popped it all on foam tape for dimension.

I used a few black gems from Papirdesign to pick up the black from the sentiment strip.

I used a fairly limited amount of Copics, especially given how large this image originally is.

Happy birthday {Rachelle Anne Miller}

Hi, crafty friends. Today’s release day at Rachelle Anne Miller with this cute Candy Shop Creator set.

I used the boy, the girl and the stand and created a cute scene in Photoshop that I printed on X-Press It blending card and colored with Copics.

I chose to keep the scene pretty big and there wasn’t too much room for a sentiment, but I used the Bold Happy Birthday die set from My Favorite Things to die cut into the scene. I die cut an additional four layers from white cardstock, adhered my scene onto a card base I created from Bright Buttercup cardstock from Papertrey Ink.

I layered my die cuts and puzzle pieced them back into the scene. This way, the sentiment fits even though it’s big.

I printed one of the sentiments in the Candy Shop Scene Creator set, cut it down to a strip that I mounted below the die cut and finished off the card with a few enamel dots from the Pocketful of Sunshine mix from Altenew.

I used a lot of colors for this one!

Let’s Celebrate {Purple Onion Designs}

Hi, crafty friends. I’m back today with a very simple card featuring Let’s Celebrate from the Tofu & Friends summer collection from Purple Onion Designs, illustrated by PEI.

I stamped this cute gang onto X-Press It blending card and colored them with Copics, then used the largest die in the A2 Rectangle STAX Set 2 from My Favorite Things to create my standard faux stitch edge. I stamped a sentiment from the Everyday Blurbs stamp set using Sour Apple ink from My Favorite Things. It matches the green in the coloring nicely.

I covered the critters with a mask, then used the Bokeh Elements Stencil Duo set from Waffle Flower to create some interest to the rest of the panel. I used Pistachio and Misty Sage fresh dye inks from Altenew for the green and started with Peachy Glow, also fresh ink from Altenew, for the smaller yellow dots. I suspect my stencil wasn’t clean from the last project, because the yellow seemed a bit too muddy for the look I was going for, so I went over with Scattered Straw Distress Ink, which helped. I then rotated the stencil 180 degrees and went in with Simon Hurley Solar Paste in the Golden Hour color. This paste goes on so easily and has a lot of shine. Once the paste was dry, I adhered my panel to a top fold card base I created from Sour Apple cardstock from My Favorite Things, and the card was complete.

The solar paste adds so much shine that I decided not to add any embellishments to this card, making it very mail friendly.

I didn’t use a ton of colors for this one.

Gift tags {Kort & Godt}

Hi, crafty friends! I’m sharing a trio of gift tags today, made for the Kort & Godt gallery blog.

Kort & Godt just released image sheet with a Christmas theme. There are 11 different image sheets to choose from, and somehow, I started with one of the red ones. I don’t know how that happened when there are gorgeous blue and green ones to choose from, but I don’t always do things that make sense.

I used a couple of tag dies (Die 210 and die 211) for the actual tags, die cutting from both patterned paper and plain cardstock (Fine Linen from Papertrey Ink). The patterned paper is from Maja Design, the bottom left one from the Holiday in the Alps collection and the other two from the Joyous Winterdays collection. The images are all from the MA1030 sheet, which has four large images and three smaller ones. I used all the small ones for these, fussy cutting around one of them and creating rectangles from the other two.

On the top tag, I used Die-348 for the word die cut, a sheet of pre-made sentiment sticker strips and a couple of black gems to repeat the color from the sentiment strip.

The left tag I kept very simple, only adding die cuts created with Die 347. I used Dark Chocolate cardstock from Papertrey Ink for the shadow, and Fine Linen, also from Papertrey Ink, for the actual words. I finished the tag with a little bit of bling framing the sentiment.

For the right tag, I pulled out the sentiment sticker strips again and used black cotton thread to tie a bow at the top of the tag – super simple.

I stamped til/fra on the back of each of the tags using Dark Chocolate ink from Papertrey Ink. The stamps are from M-466.

Sending hugs {Lili of the Valley}

Hi, crafty friends. I have another cute bee card to share with you today, featuring a bee the Happy Bees stamp set from Lili of the Valley.

I stamped the bee on X-Press It blending card and colored it with Copics, before I used a die in the A2 Double Stitched Rectangle STAX die set from My Favorite Things to create a faux stitch border.

Onto a panel of Aqua Sky cardstock from Concord & 9th, I ink blended Aqua Sky ink through the Geometric Mosaic stencil from My Favorite Things and adhered the panel to a white card base I created from Stamper’s Select White cardstock from Papertrey Ink, then mounted the panel with the bee in the center using foam tape.

I used the Sending You Hugs die from My Favorite Things to die cut the word HUGS four times. I die cut three white, one from Aqua Sky cardstock and stacked them for dimension. I used the same technique on the sending die from the Blooming Delight die set from Altenew, but switching out the color for the top die cut to Buttercup cardstock from Concord & 9th. I adhered the letters for HUGS above the bee, and the stacked sending above that, letting the s hang from the edge of the panel to break the line in the design.

I used sequins and gems from the Urban Chic mix from Little Things from Lucy’s Cards to embellish, and I also used my trusted black glaze pen/white Gelly Roll 05 combo for the eyes to give them a little dimension and shine.

Simple color palette for this one.

Stay awesome {Lili of the Valley}

Hi, crafty friends. I’m back today with a card featuring one of the cute pandas from Lili of the Valley. I really love these guys!

I printed my panda onto X-Press It blending card, colored him with Copics and used a black glaze pen, then a white Gelly Roll 05 to create shine and a little bit of dimension in his eyes and nose. I then used the Polaroid Shaker Frame die from My Favorite Things to create the perfect spot for him by die cutting a few layers from white cardstock and one layer from cardstock that I colored green with one of the inks in the Jade Greens family of fresh dye inks from Altenew.

Using the Leaf Clusters stamp set from Altenew, I stamped one of the leaf clusters onto my white card base with various greens to create an ombre look. I used Pistachio, Misty Sage, Mossy Meadow and Green Opal inks, all from that same Jade Greens family of Fresh dye inks. I actually stamped it twice, but the polaroid covers most of the one I stamped in the bottom left corner. I also used the inks to create a little ink splatter on the background.

I stamped a sentiment from the Leaf Clusters stamp set in Green Opal ink, cut it down to a strip and added a couple of strips behind it for strength and dimension, before finishing off the card with a visual triangle of sequins from the White Orchid Sequin mix from Little Things from Lucy’s Cards.

It’s no secret that I love dimension on my cards, and my three layer sentiment on top of the four layer polaroid frame add enough weight for this to require extra postage, but that’s true of most of my cards.

These pandas tend to make for some pretty simple color combos.

Love you, my friend {Rachelle Anne Miller}

Hi, crafty friends. It’s time for a little sunshine in the form of this Sending Sunshine image from Rachelle Anne Miller. We haven’t seen too much sunshine this summer, but thankfully, there’s still time.

I colored the image with my Copics, before using the Notebook Edge die from My Favorite Things to create a fun border at the bottom. I used a black glaze pen to add shine and dimension to their eyes, then went in with a Gelly Roll 05 once the black was dry. I fussy cut around the image, and the stems of the sunflowers actually dictated the width of this card, which only measures about 3 1/4 x 4 3/4″. If you include the flowers hanging off the edge, it’s a little wider than 4 1/4″, so I might need to put it in a larger envelope.

I used the Raised Sentiments 3D embossing folder from Altenew on a piece of Harbor cardstock from Concord & 9th to create a little interest in the background, cut it down and adhered it to a top fold white card base. I mounted my colored piece on top using foam tape, I’m a big fan of dimension on cards.

I die cut one of the dies from the Blooming Delight die set from Altenew from True Black cardstock from Papertrey Ink. I cut five, put two together, and stacked the remaining three, so I had two somewhat dimensional die cuts. I die cut the shadow layer from Heavyweight Translucent Vellum from My Favorite Things, adhered the stack with 3 behind it and the stack with the 2 on top. This creates a nice shadow around the shadow die without the use of foam tape.

I white heat embossed a sentiment from the Pristine Peonies stamp set from Altenew, cut it down to a strip, added a few more strips behind it for dimension and adhered it below my die cut to complete the sentiment (the stamp actually says love you, my friend). I finished off the card with a few pearls and gems from the Ocean Breeze mix from Little Things from Lucy’s Cards.

Fairly soft color palette for this one.

You are tee-rific! {Purple Onion Designs}

Hi, crafty friends! I have a couple of golfers coming your way today. Mulligan and Bogey are from this summer’s Stacey Yacula release from Purple Onion Designs. The collection is Amongst the Pines, and it has an outdoorsy/sports feel to it, which is perfect right now with the summer Olympics underway in Paris.

I stamped Mulligan and Bogey using Extreme Black ink from My Favorite Things, before covering them with masks and stamping the 18th Hole. I covered that with a mask and stamped the Woodland Horizon.

When I color large scenes like this, I always start with the background. I colored the sky first, then the green. There’s a lot of green in this one, and even thought I used different green combos for different elements and tried a new combo for the majority of the green, most of it blends together in the end and looks pretty much like the same color.

On Bogey, I repeated the colors I used for the clouds on her outfit. Repeating colors creates a more cohesive design, and the end result isn’t rainbow vomit, which can easily happen if you don’t restrain yourself from using every color under the sun. I even used the pinks on a few details in Mulligan’s outfit, and colored the rest of his outfit blue. I chose a dark blue combo for his pants and hat, and used the lightest color in that combination as the darkest color for the lighter blue on his sweater and shoes. This way, the color isn’t the same across his entire outfit, but I’m not introducing a new color. It’s a great way to avoid rainbow vomit.

To finish off the card, I stamped a sentiment from The Great Outdoors Sentiment Set using Lazy Day ink from My Favorite Things, before finishing off with a few enamel dots from the North Shore mix from Altenew.

See? Not a whole lot of colors, given this is a full A2 size panel that’s all covered with color.

God jul {Mo’s Digital Pencil}

Hi, crafty friends. Guess what? Christmas is in five months. At least it is if you celebrate on the 24th. I love creating Christmas cards, and since it’s Wednesday, also known as Mo day, I couldn’t resist creating a holiday card with this Feed the birds image from Mo. I flipped it, so the girl faces right instead of left.

I printed the image on a piece of X-Press It blending card, colored it with my Copics and used a die in the Additional A2 Layers die set from Waffle Flower to trim the rectangle down a bit. You could also use a trimmer for this. Into the panel, I die cut the words god jul using dies from Kort & Godt. The two words are actually from separate die sets, but work perfectly together like this.

I adhered my panel to a top fold card base I created from Autumn Rose cardstock from Papertrey Ink, paper pieced the counters back into place, sprinkled on Chunky White embossing enamel from Stampendous and heated the granules from the back. I should have done this before adhering my panel to the card base to spend less time with the heat gun (melting the powder through two layers of cardstock takes significantly longer than doing it through just the one layer), but I honestly forgot about it. It does work through two layers, it’s just a matter of patience.

Once my snow was in place, I die cut four layers of each of the words from black cardstock. I stacked them, added the colored one on top and puzzle pieced them in where they belonged, before adding a few Snowdrift sprinkles from Little Things from Lucy’s Cards to finish the card.

Pink and dirty green. This is about as close as I (willingly) get to using red and green together on a card.
