Merry Christmas {Mo’s Dream Team}

It’s Christmas!!! Dinner and lots of presents opened yesterday, and a new card today. A simple one this time too, featuring Little Elf Kippa from Mo Manning.

I’m still working through my Christmas images with no line coloring, and I adore this one, she’s so cute balancing those baubles!! Baubles are fun to color too, so all in all, this was a joy to make.

I ran out of my favorite white cardstock while working on my Christmas cards, so I had to get creative with card bases and patterned paper before I got a new shipment! For this one I used Olive cardstock from Simon Says Stamp, it matches perfectly with the greens in the patterned paper from Maja Design and my coloring.

I diecut the panel with my little elf using the larges of the faux stitch rectangle dies from My Favorite Things and glued it straight to a piece of Maja Design patterned paper the same size as my card base. I added a piece of a Doodlebug Design mini doily and a couple of banners made from patterned paper scraps. I diecut both banners with dies from the Fishtail Flag Frames set from My Favorite Things, stamped a Huldra designstudio sentiment on one of them and white heat embossed it. As a last finishing touch, I added a few crystal to draw the eye to the sentiment.

The banner with the sentiment is mounted with 1 mm foam tape, everything else is glued flat, making this a card that will have no trouble going through the mail.

I managed to include BG90 twice in my little Copic chart, maybe I shouldn’t make my charts when it’s way past bed time??

Når man er sent ute med vertinnegaver trenger man noe som går kjapt. Denne posen lager du superkjapt av ett mønsterark, og du trenger ikke å pynte superkomplisert heller. Legg i noe hjemmelaget å spise på som du allerede har ferdig (jeg lagde fugde til min pose), og vips, så er du ute av døra på null komma niks. Hvis du vil ha litt mer fremgangsmetode enn bare selve malen, finner du detaljert beskrivelse i fjorårets desembernummer av Ett trykk.

Jeg brukte dette arket fra Holiday in the Alps-kolleksjonen til Maja Design og brettet i vei. Da jeg var ferdig med å lage alle brettelinjene stanset jeg ut en sirkel i front til et vindu og dekket over innsiden med acetat, før jeg stemplet god jul (fra fleksi JUL-platen til Huldra designstudio) i mørkeblått og limte på et par av disse snøfnuggene fra Rayher.

Siden man kun bruker 9″ av bredden på arket er det greit å velge seg ut en bit som gjør seg fin både på for- og bakside av posen. Disse hjortebukkene gjør seg veldig fint på baksiden (og litt siden) av posen, man trenger ikke mer pynt enn det.

Nisseklem {Mo’s Dream Team}

Another Wednesday, and another Mo Manning creation. Another simple Christmas card, this time featuring Stocking Elf.

I love coloring Mo’s images using the no line technique, and this one was no exception. I don’t remember what my initial plan was, but I printed the image in the top left corner of a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2″ panel, something I pretty much always do with my images. This time I struggled to come up with a card design that worked, so I wound up chopping off everything below the stocking, so I could use it along with pieces of patterned paper on the front of my card.

I try using scraps for my cards, and the plaid patterned paper scrap from Maja Design was exactly 4 1/8″ long. I placed it carefully in the largest of the faux stitch rectangle dies from My Favorite Things for a nicely finished edge, and did the same for all the other pieces of paper, creating a seamless seam along all the edges.

I stamped a sentiment from the B04 stamp set from Norsk Stempelblad AS using Papertrey Ink Scarlet Jewel ink and added a couple of Papirdesign enamel dots as a finishing touch.

I mailed my card along with a small Christmas present for my secret Santa contribution at Copic Norge. I used another Norsk Stempelblad AS stamp set to stamp GOD JUL on the gift tag. Very simple.

You’d think I’d use very few colors on such a small image, but no 😉 Considering 7 of these are for the skin alone, it’s no wonder I always use lots of markers!

Every year, it seems as if I have time to make ONE card that isn’t a design team assignment. This year, I had to stay away from card making for months due to a shoulder fracture, but I’ve still managed to make my one non DT card.

I have a soft spot for Stacey Yacula’s images, and the Sweet Holiday Penguins set from My Favorite Things was perfect for a quick, simple Christmas card. I’m normally not one for scene cards, but I thought these two deserved better than to just float around, so I added a night sky and some subtle hints of snow on the ground.

I colored my penguins during Kathy Racoosin’s 30 day challenge on Instagram, and asked my followers how to add snow. Someone suggested paint splatters and embossing powder, so that’s what I did. I used liquid watercolor from Hero Arts for the splatters, and lots and lots and lots of chunky white embossing enamel from Stampendous for the rest. It makes the card seem very wintry, and the embossing enamel adds a ton of texture to an otherwise very simple card.

I could have made it a one layer wonder, but I like the faux stitch look you get with the stitched rectangle STAX sets from My Favorite Things, and I love the 1/16″ frame of pure white around it. I even mounted my panel on foam tape for that extra bit of dimension.

Simple, yet dimensional from that foam tape, with lots of texture from the embossing enamel. Maybe I should start making scene cards more often?

I can’t believe I’ve nearly used all the different gray families on one card, all I’m missing are the Ws.

Hi, everyone! Another Wednesday, another Mo Manning creation. This time, it’s a simple Christmas card, featuring the adorable Little Elf Tippi. He’s so cute tangled up in those lights, I couldn’t resist coloring him!

I went for a no lines version, which is my preferred Copic technique, it makes the image come to life much more than a black lined version ever could.

I die cut my colored piece with a faux stitch rectangle die from My Favorite Things. I added a red piece of Maja Design patterned paper to my card front and glued my elf panel on top, effectively creating a 1/16″ red frame around my image.

I wanted to keep the focus on the cute little elf. The best way to do that is to keep it super simple and subtle. I added a piece of a Doodlebug Design mini doily before gluing on a Papirdesign button that says Merry Christmas in Norwegian. That’s it.

This is a pretty mail friendly card, the only thing that adds a little bulk is that button, everything else is glued on without any dimension.

I try being good at showing the Copics I used, but sometimes I forget. This time I didn’t.

Med jul i hjertet {Mo’s Dream Team}

Christmas is less than three weeks away, and I’m actually ahead of schedule Christmas card wise. I colored up Got the Wreath from Mo Manning during the 30 day coloring challenge and turned it into a quick, simple card with a few pieces of Maja Design patterned paper from the Joyous Winterdays collection.

I used the largest of the dies from the Stitched Rectangles STAX 2 set from My Favorite Things to diecut the panel with my little guy, just for some subtle detail.

I covered the front of my card panel with a green piece of patterned paper and mounted my faux stitches colored panel with some low foam tape.

In the top left corner I made a very typical Elin cluster. I started with a Doodlebug Design mini doily for some softness, and made sure I didn’t glue it down completely. The little lift you get by not glueing it down is just enough. I diecut a few branches from that green patterned paper with a couple of CraftEmotions dies, a few banners with a die set from My Favorite Things and stamped a sentiment from Norsk Stempelblad AS that I white heat embossed. I finished with a few raindrops from Little Things from Lucy’s Cards.

Mostly green and white, with a little hint of red. I’m not a huge fan of red for Christmas, but the combo of this deep brown based red and this grayish, blueish green works for me.

Christmas envelope {Mo’s Dream Team}

Another Wednesday, and today I’ve got an envelope to go with the non traditional Christmas card from last week.

I resized, flipped and merged the presents from Christmas Pool Tot, before lowering the opacity and printing my image to X-Press It blending card, which, in my opinion, is by far the best paper for Copic coloring. I colored my presents in much of the same colors as I used for the card, and turned my piece of X-Press It into an envelope using the envelope punch board from We R Memory Keepers. Added the recipient’s name and address (erased most of it in PS, I don’t want to blast it all over the internet) and a couple of stamps, and off to New Zealand it went!

Another look with the card next to it. I like how it all matches, not that I tend to do that with my Christmas cards!

A little over a month until Christmas, and I haven’t bought a single present yet. Who else hasn’t started? Please tell me I’m not the only one. I’ve got a non traditional Christmas card to share with you. Non traditional both in the image itself and in my colors. This card is going halfway around the world, so I thought I’d go all out with the non traditional.

I put together the floating presents and the image itself from Mo Manning’s Christmas Pool Tot in Photoshop, before merging the images and lowering the opacity to 15%. Merging the layers is necessary to avoid intersecting lines when lowering the opacity. I colored my image in yellows (though I did use an orange for the darkest yellow), pinks and aquas. Not my normal Christmas color scheme, but that was kind of the point on this summery Christmas card.

I used a stitched rectangle die from My Favorite Things to cut out my panel, glued it to a Hawaiian Shores cardbase from Papertrey Ink and added a simple cluster with a sentiment. The cluster is made from a Doodlebug doily, a pink Maja Design monochrome banner, a scrap of yellow patterned paper from Papirdesign and a sentiment banner made using a scrap of patterned paper from Studio Light. I realized after I’d glued my banners on that I hadn’t cut my sentiment banner on the one end like I normally do, so my banners are a little longer than normal, but once I realized they were already glued down, and I was not about to start over. I added a few clear crystals from Little Cards by Lucy, and that’s my card for today.

Lots of colors used on this one, even though it might not look like it.

Grattis – Det er bursdagen din {Ett trykk}{Hobbykunst}

Hei og hopp! I dag har jeg et enkelt kort å dele igjen. Kortet ble laget til en artikkel i Ett trykk om alternative layouter på kort. Om det er så veldig alternativt vet jeg ikke, men gøy å lage var det i det minste.

Jeg stemplet et av monstrene fra Monster Sized-platen til My Favorite Things med MFT Extreme Black blekk i Mistien min. Jeg fargela monsteret med Copics, stemplet over på det samme stedet med VersaFine Onyx Black for å få ordentlig svarte linjer og stanset ut med tilhørende die.

Jeg svertet Distress Oxide-blekk i fargen Twisted Citron på en relativt stor bit kartong og sprutet noen vanndråper over for å få den litt oksiderte effekten. På en annen bit kartong brukte jeg en stensil (Modern Radio Waves) fra Memory Box med mer Distress Oxide blekk til å få litt interesse på bakgrunnen. Jeg brukte fargene Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers og Twisted Citron. Panelet limte jeg på kortbasen min med 3D-teip, så det har litt dimensjon.

Jeg stemplet en tekst fra Monster-platen til Huldra designstudio med VersaMark på svart kartong og embosset i hvitt, før jeg kuttet det ned til en strimmel og limte på kortet med 3D-teip. Jeg stanset ut ordet grattis fem ganger med en die fra Papirdesign og svertet det øverste laget.

Til slutt pyntet jeg enkelt ved å legge på noen dråper Nuvo Jewel Drops i fargen Key Lime rundt teksten. Jeg liker veldig godt å lage kort der alle elementene på kortet er samlet på ett sted. Da får man enkelt fokus på riktig sted, man får masse ledig plass som gjør at kortet får et rent og enkelt uttrykk, og man sprer ikke møkka, som jeg så fint pleier å si 😉

We’ve reached another Wednesday, and you know what that means – it’s Mo Manning time! I’ve really gotten into the swing of making Christmas cards, and so far this year, they’re all blue. I’m a sucker for blue Christmas cards, and they’re so much fun to make!

I colored up a nolines version of Happiness is and diecut my panel down to a scalloped square with a Lifestyle Crafts die, before adding lots of Chunky White embossing enamel from Stampendous as snow.

I added my panel to a piece of patterned paper from Maja Design using some dimensional adhesive. Matted it with blue Maja Design cardstock, then glued everything to my cardbase. I’m not a fan of big borders around my panels on my cards, but 1/16″ is perfect!

I diecut god jul using a Papirdesign die four times with the same blue cardstock, stacked them together, glued them to a vellum shadow and glued that directly to my image for a quick, easy sentiment.
