God jul {Streamside Studios}

Hi, crafty friends. I have a simple, yet dimensional holiday card to share today featuring this mouse from the Merry Christmouse digi stamp set from Streamside Studios.

This little  mouse is so cute, and she might be adding her name to Santa’s nice list, who knows? I colored her with Copics and fussy cut her leaving a white border.

I covered a white card base with a panel of patterned paper from Maja Design. This is the Snowflakes pattern from the Holiday in the Alps collection. I love the design paper from Maja Design, it’s my favorite patterned paper to use! Into a panel of Stamper’s Select White cardstock from Papertrey Ink, I die cut a circle opening towards the top left and also used a stitched rectangle die from the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX 2 set from My Favorite Things.

I stamped God jul from the M-442 stamp set from Kort & Godt using Blue Beyond ink from My Favorite Things. I die cut trees using the Silhouette Snow Trees die set from Mama Elephant, stacked them and added Rock Candy distress glitter from Ranger for a super snowy look. With the layering of the trees, this was pretty dimensional, so I had to double up on the foam tape when I added the panel with the circle opening.

I also added foam tape behind the mouse and this card is very thick as a result.

Pink Christmas {Kort & Godt}

Hi, crafty friends. I have a pink Christmas card to share today, made for the Kort & Godt galleri blog.

I started by ink blending trees in pink onto white cardstock. I used the Wintry Forest stencil set from Pinkfresh Studio along with Rose Quartz, Puffy Heart and Purple Wine inks from Altenew. I then stamped a sentiment in the M-428 stamp set from Kort & Godt and heat embossed in white. The heat embossing doesn’t really show up too well in my photos where the trees in the background are pale, but it’s more visible in real life. And if you want more contrast, you could start the blending with a darker color.

I used a die in the Die 178 set to create the faux stitching on the sides of my ink blended piece. The dies in this set are banner dies, but I did partial die cutting and only used the top half of the die. I added a couple of layers of white cardstock behind it for a little bit of dimension and adhered it to a top fold landscape card base I created from Stamper’s Select White cardstock from Papertrey Ink, which is the cardstock I’ve used throughout.

I die cut a sled (Die 321 from Kort & Godt) five times from white cardstock. I stacked them for strength and dimension and adhered my sled to the bottom of my panel, tucking a felt snowflake (ST105) behind it. I added another felt snowflake (ST103) in the top right.

The pink is very unexpected – at least for me. I never thought I’d ink blend pink winter trees, but this was fun! You could easily create this card in lots of other colors too, I wonder what it would look like in blue…

Happy holidays {Lili of the Valley}

Hi, crafty friends. I’m back with another card with an adorable image from the recent Lili of the Valley release. This time I’ve used the penguin in the Christmas Mugs stamp set. There’s also a Santa, snowman and reindeer in the stamp set, but I couldn’t not choose the penguin.

I colored my penguin mug with Copics and fussy cut the image right up against the black stamped lines. This image doesn’t have a whole lot of the whispy, perpendicular lines that are so characteristic of Lili of the Valley images, which was the reason I opted not to include a white trim around the edges. There are 3 or 4 lines at the top of his head that I had to cut off, but I was okay with that. I stamped some snowflakes onto a card base using Spring Rain ink from Papertrey Ink. The snowflakes are from an old Tim Holtz stamp set. I mounted the mug on foam tape near the bottom right of the card.

I die cut a few snowflakes using a couple of die sets from Memory Box. The one at the top, that is partially hidden behind the penguin and speech bubble is from the Stitched Let It Snow Circle Frame die set. The die set comes with a stitched snowflake circle frame and three individual snowflake dies. The snowflakes with the stitching detail are from the Twilight Snowflakes die set. I added some blue diamonds from Kort & Godt to the mug, as well as a heart from the Festivities mix from Little Things from Lucy’s Cards. I stamped a couple of sentiments from the Holiday messages stamp set from Mama Elephant using Lazy Days ink from My Favorite Things and die cut them into speech bubbles using the Say Anything die set from My Favorite Things. I stacked a couple of additional white die cuts behind the speech bubbles for dimension.

Simple color palette for this one, and I realize now that I forgot to jot down the blue Copics I used for this, but I believe they are B93, B91 and B90, which is a color I’ve made myself.

Christmas Hugs {Lili of the Valley}

Hi, crafty friends. I have a super fun card to share with you today, featuring lots of cute critters from Lili of the Valley.

I did a lot of masking for this card, using two stamp sets from the recent release. I’ve got the Penguins and Reindeer stamp set, as well as the Festive Mice and Bears stamp set, mixing the two together and turning my critters into somewhat of a tree shape.

I colored them all with Copics, added black glaze to their eyes for shine, then a dot of white Gelly Roll 05 once the black was dry. I fussy cut my “tree”, added foam tape to the back and mounted it on a card base I created from Blue Breeze cardstock from My Favorite Things.

I used the Stitched Snowflake Backdrop die from Lawn Fawn to create some texture on the card base. This card measures 5 x 7 1/4″, so I had to get creative with the die, because it’s a standard A2 size die. I love the subtle texture in the background.

I used a die from Kort & Godt to create my sentiment (Christmas hug in Norwegian). I stacked four die cuts from white cardstock and adhered the top of the word to the bottom of my critter tree. I used Starry Sky ombré glitter drops from Pinkfresh Studio to finish off. I love the sparkle and shine to these.

Season’s greetings {Lili of the Valley}

Hi, crafty friends. I’m back today with another card featuring a super cute reindeer from the Folksy Gnomes stamp set from the latest Lili of the Valley release. I know there are a lot of people that are into gnomes. I’m not one of them, but I couldn’t resist this adorable reindeer.

I colored up the reindeer with my Copics and fussy cut him leaving a white trim around the edges. I added Glossy Accents to his nose for shine and put him aside while I worked on the rest of my card.

I used the Snowflake Confetti Fancy die from Hero Arts to make an impression into a white piece of cardstock. By dry embossing with the die, I add a bit of interest to the background without it being distracting.

I used partial die cutting with the Stitched Rectangle Scallop Edge Frames die set from My Favorite Things to create my scalloped borders on either side of the dry embossed white cardstock. I used patterned paper from Maja Design for this. The design is called Ornaments and comes from the Happy Christmas collection from 2021. I don’t use a lot of patterned paper on my cards, but I really like this green pattern with some sprigs, leaves and hearts in a darker green, along with some white dots scattered around like snow. The patterned paper from Maja Design has always been my favorite. It’s double sided and very thick. It’s so thick you can even use it for a card base.

I used the Snowflakes and Ornament die set from Hero Arts to create the ornament for my reindeer to sit in. I die cut the ornament die itself from the same patterned paper that I used for my scalloped borders. I then temporarily taped the two dies in the set together, so I could create an ornament with snowflakes. I cut a few from white cardstock and one from silver glitter cardstock from Kort & Godt, stacking them for dimension. I tied a bow to the top of the ornament using May Arts natural twine and added a few pearls from the Glossy Porcelain mix from Little Things from Lucy’s Cards on top of the knot for additional shine.

I added Rudolph with his shiny nose to the center of my ornament. I also stamped a sentiment from the Itty Bitty Holiday stamp set from My Favorite Things using Shadow Creek ink from Altenew onto a scrap piece of the patterned paper I’ve used throughout. I added a few strips of white cardstock behind it for dimension and adhered it below the ornament, centered on my white, dry embossed piece.

This card wound up very simple looking, but it’s still kind of technique heavy. Partial die cutting, dry embossing with a die and layered die cuts. All the layers make it a very thick card, and it’s not the most mail friendly card I’ve ever made – I love dimension!

For an image this simple, I sure used a lot of colors!!

Ingen er som du {Kort & Godt}

Hi, crafty friends. I’m back today with another card created for the Kort & Godt gallery blog. This time, it’s a very simple one.

I started with an A2 side fold card base, used the Watercolor Wash Free Form stencil from My Favorite Things and ink blended softly with Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade and Squeezed Lemonade distress inks. I then layered the Basket weave stencil (also from MFT) on top and ink blended again using the same three colors, this time going in with a heavier hand.

I die cut the Ingen er som du die six times from white cardstock, once from black glitter cardstock and the shadow die once from 40 lb vellum from Bazzill. I usually use a heavyweight vellum, but for this, I wanted some of the ink blending to show through, so a thinner version was the better choice for this particular card.

I stacked three of the die cut words, then added the layer of vellum, then the last three white die cuts and finally the black glitter cardstock. It’s a very fine glitter and doesn’t really show up in my photos, sadly.

To finish off the card I added a sticker sentiment strip on top of the die cut and finished off with some black jewels.

Må ikke åpnes før julaften {Kort & Godt}

Hi, crafty friends. I shared this gift tag on the Kort & Godt galleri blog last week, but decided to share it here, as well.

Die 302 Julestjerne creates an awesome poinsettia. I’m not usually one to use flowers on anything holiday related, but this die set has won me over. There’s three dies in the set – one creates a leaf (which I didn’t use on this tag), and then there are two dies that creates two sizes of petals for the actual flower. If you cut both twice you get a nice looking poinsettia. I cut both four times for this very full poinsettia. I used patterned paper from Craft Consortium, and there’s instant variety to the petals, I love it. The dies create indentations for the veiny lines, which I quickly enhanced with a Zig clean color real brush marker in a color that matched (230 Pale Rose).

I added the flower to a tag I created from cream cardstock. I used Die 211 to create the tag, and stamped a sentiment from M-466 using Scarlet Jewel ink from Papertrey Ink. I adhered snowflakes from ST105 and ST102, before adding a white gem from ST208 to the center of each. I tied string through the loop at the top of the tag and added a KN567 button to the center of the flower, tying a bow behind the button using the same string that I used for the top of the tag (TR-104).

For the coolest guy

Hi, crafty friends! I’m sharing a confirmation card today, featuring Noah from Mo Manning.

It’s confirmation season, and my nephew’s confirmation was September 10th. I made several cards for him, and this is one of them. I thought this image was the perfect one to use, nothing says fifteen year old boy like a guy with his phone in his hand, school books hidden away and a bowl of snacks on the armrest. The controller tucked away is a nice touch too. We don’t wear shoes indoors in Norway, but the rest is pretty spot on.

I created a background for my colored image using a variety of stamps, inks and even a stencil. I started with the Abstract Triangle Background stamp from My Favorite Things that I stamped in Orange Peel ink from Simon Says Stamp. I didn’t want the stamp to cover the entire background and made sure to stamp it in the lower left corner and have it fade as it went up and to the right. I then took a confirmation stamp from the A05 stamp set from Norsk Stempelblad AS and repeatedly stamped it on top of the stamping I’d already done using VersaMark ink, before sprinkling on super fine detail embossing powder from Ranger and melting the powder with my heat gun. I then used the Watercolor Wash Free Form stencil from My Favorite Things and ink blended using Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed distress inks.

I fussy cut my image leaving a white trim and mounted it on foam tape on top of the stamping and ink blending I’d done. I die cut the Hullmønster die from Papirdesign twice; once from Cornflower cardstock and once from Sour Apple cardstock, both from My Favorite Things. I tore them both up, tucking a couple of pieces behind the image for a little bit of added interest.

I used the Konfirmant 2 die from Papirdesign to die cut five times from cardstock for a stacked look, placing a layer die cut from True Black cardstock from Papertrey Ink on top of the stack. I adhered it to the card using liquid glue, placing the beginning of the word on top of Noah’s pant leg to make it all fit.

I added some sentiment stickers from Kort & Godt to fill the space at the bottom of the card a little. They’re originally a bit bigger than this and white with black letters, but I used a Copic marker to color them blue to make them stand out against the white background a little and also cut them down slightly. The banners with the stars are also Kort & Godt stickers.

In the top right corner, I created a little cluster with die cut pieces and those stickers, before finishing off the card with a few Papirdesign enamel dots. Onto a Limelight envelope from My Favorite Things, I adhered white die cut letters (dies from Papirdesign) to spell his name and stamped Konfirmant from the Konf. 02 stamp set from Norsk Stempelblad AS using Limelight ink from My Favorite Things.

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from the Konf. 02 stamp set from Norsk Stempelblad AS using Orange Peel ink from Simon Says Stamp. I also adhered number stickers from Papirdesign to get the date on there. The right hand side has plenty of space for a personal message.

Fun, bright color palette for this one.

Gledelig jul {Kort & Godt}

Hi, crafty friends. I have a Christmas card I made for the Kort & Godt gallery blog to share today. No coloring on this, but I’ve made up for it with lots of die cutting, don’t worry.

I knew I wanted to do something fun with the poinsettia die set from Kort & Godt. The die set comes with three dies in three different sizes. If you die cut two of each, you get a poinsettia. There’s also a leaf die in the set. I die cut three leaves and created four of each size of the petals for a very full poinsettia. I used a patterned paper from the Ink Drops – Vivid paper pad from Craft Consortium for everything paper on this card except for the white cardstock. Before assembling my poinsettia, I curled all the leaves back a little so they wouldn’t appear flat. I just used a paint brush handle, anything that you can use to create that curve will work. I put foam squares on the back of the petals at the very back, but adhered the center of the poinsettia directly to the white die cut panel. I also put foam squares on the back of the leaves.

I die cut the word gledelig four times; once from the patterned paper, three times from white cardstock. I stacked them for dimension, adhering the patterned paper one on top of the others. I stamped and white heat embossed jul to complete the sentiment (the die set with gledelig also has the word jul in it, but it was too big for my card). I used a glue gun to add berries to the center of the flower and embellished with a few white pearls.

The curved leaves and the berries add a lot of dimension to this card. I love that the dies impress the veins of the leaves and petals into the die cuts.

God jul {Kort & Godt}

Hi, crafty friends. I have another Christmas card to share, this time using some goodies from Kort & Godt.

I shared a card a couple of weeks ago with a bullfinch. The stamp set has another bullfinch image, and I decided to put this one to good use too. This time I fussy cut around him, leaving a white trim around the edge. Onto a top fold card base I created from Rustic Cream cardstock from Papertrey Ink, I mounted a piece of patterned paper from Maja Design (Tomten kommer from the Gammaldags Jul collection). From the Christmas Flower sheet from the Wintertime in Swedish Lapland collection from Pion Design, I die cut a tag, added that in the center using foam tape and a bow at the top that I found in my stash.

I used a die to create the word jul. The die actually cuts the word juleklem, but I only needed jul for my card and cut the other part off. Using an alphabet die, I die cut the letters to spell god and glued them above jul to complete my sentiment. I added the bullfinch image using foam squares and also added a big gold pearl to the knot on the bow for a little bit of shine to finish my card.

Simple color palette, and it happens to be the same as the one I used for the previous bullfinch card.
