Wishing you a super chill day {Purple Onion Designs}

Hi, crafty friends! Summer’s just around the corner and with it comes ice cream!! These dragons from the Ice Cream Time stamp from Purple Onion Designs are certainly enjoying theirs.

I stamped my dragons onto cold pressed Fabriano Artístico Extra White watercolor paper using Altenew Obsidian ink and used Zig Clean color real brush markers with a brush and some water to watercolor them. I used the Watercolor Rectangle stencil from My Favorite Things to help me create a frame to color inside of.

I added some tufts of grass to my coloring. The markers make it super easy because of their actual brush.

Once all my coloring was dry, I stamped a sentiment from the Friendly Warm Wishes sentiment set from Purple Onion Designs using Obsidian ink from Altenew once again.

I adhered my panel to a card base and finished off with the Melon embellishment mix from Little Things from Lucy’s Cards.

Zig markers used for coloring:

214 Cyclamen pink

064 Oatmeal

702 Mandarin Orange

705 Peach Orange

502 Mimosa

307 Aqua Blue

406 Sage Green

411 Cactus Green

Get happy! {Purple Onion Designs}

Hi, crafty friends! I have a fun card to share today with some cuties from Purple Onion Designs. I colored this up for the rainbow theme for last month’s Coloring Club Challenge over on Instagram. Polly the hedgehog is so cute with her buckets of paint, and I had her paint a stone wall this time.

In addition to Polly and the stone wall, I also used Hazel and the countryside horizon background. I die cut a panel of X-Press It blending card using the Postage Collage die set from Waffle Flower. I then used the coordinating coloring stencil to mask off the edges, so I could stamp in the “windows” only and keep the outside white. I used a 0.03 Copic multiliner to add a very thin frame around each part of the scene to contain my coloring inside.

Once my coloring was complete I stamped a sentiment from the Journey sentiment set from Purple Onion Designs using Altenew Obsidian ink.

I stacked cardstock scraps behind each of the postage stamps for dimension and adhered everything to a card base I created from Rustic Cream cardstock from Papertrey Ink. I love this cardstock, I need to break it out more!!

To finish off the card I embellished with iridescent flowers from the Spring Leaves mix from Little Things from Lucy’s Cards.

Lots of Copics for this one.

Happy holidays

Hi, crafty friends! I suppose it’s hard not to notice that I create a lot of cards with peach tones. I spent quite a bit of time this week creating a ton of die cut color combo swatches from C9 cardstock to kind of step away from the peach. Obviously, there are combos with peach in them, but I also have plenty without.

For this card, I really tried. I chose a color combo of Pebble, Ballet Slipper, Brickyard, Cranberry, Cobblestone and Tidepool from C9. I wanted to focus on Ballet Slipper, Cranberry and Tidepool for the Gummiapan diecut houses, but Tidepool and Ballet Slipper created mud when they mixed, while ink smooshed Cranberry looked like an episode of Dexter. I switched gears and ink smooshed Ballet Slipper on its own on watercolor paper. When it dried it looked like Grapefruit. So much for not using peach tones. I watercolored a background using Tidepool reinker and did the same with Pebble reinker on a separate piece of watercolor paper. Once dry, I die cut the Pebble piece with a curved landscape die from the Slim Card Basics die set from Mama Elephant, then layered the two pieces together and die cut them using the largest die in the Watercolor Rectangle STAX die set from My Favorite Things.

I sprinkled on Chunky white embossing enamel from Stampendous onto the background, heat set it so the granules melted to look like snow, adhered the slope with 1 mm foam squares and mounted the entire panel onto a card base that I covered with a piece of Nectar cardstock from Concord & 9th. I tried Grapefruit first, but felt it was too dark against the background. I mounted the houses using foam tape, die cut and stacked four layers of Happy Holidays from the Jolly Holidays Greetings die set from Concord & 9th and adhered the greeting at an angle above the houses, before finishing off with Snowdrift Sprinkles from Little Things from Lucy’s Cards.

May all your wishes come true {Mo’s Digital Pencil}

Hi, crafty friends. I shared the coloring of this cute Kissing Frogs image from Mo Manning last week on Instagram, with promises to share the finished card this week. Today’s the day, because the week is almost over. Time is flying by so quickly right now, it’s crazy.

When I printed my image, I printed Kissing Frogs in full strength, but I also put the Cottage Treehouse behind her at a 10 % opacity. I erased the bottom part of the background before printing it all, and I like the look of the faint background behind the little princess.

Once my coloring was complete, I used the Notebook Edge die from My Favorite Things to cut from the edge of the panel for a little bit of interest. I mounted my little scene using foam tape onto a card base I created from Cornflower cardstock from My Favorite Things.

I stamped a sentiment from the Birthday messages stamp set from Mama Elephant using VersaMark ink onto a scrap of Cornflower cardstock, added super fine detail embossing powder from Ranger and heat embossed. I always heat emboss from the back of the back of the cardstock only, it gives a much better result than heat embossing from the front.

I cut my sentiment down to a strip, added a couple of layers of cardstock behind it for dimension and adhered it near the top left of the card, before finishing off with a few gems and confetti stars from the Starry Night mix from Little Things from Lucy’s Cards. The stars made me think of “When you wish upon a star”, which goes perfectly with the sentiment and the “Once upon a time” theme for the Coloring Club Challenge.

I used a fairly limited color palette for this one, I feel.

Winter Greetings {Purple Onion Designs}

Hi, crafty friends. I’m sharing a fun winter card today featuring Tofu, Flappy & Mousy Fun in the Snow, which is a stamp from last year’s holiday collection of Pei’s images from Purple Onion Designs.

This is one of those super simple cards. I stamped the image using Extreme Black ink from My Favorite Things and masked it before stamping the Winter Trees background in Fadeout ink from Inkon3 for a no line look in the background. I colored in my scene using Copics, before using one of the dies in the Additional A2 Layers die set from Waffle Flower to cut it down slightly.

I stamped a sentiment from the Holiday Time Sentiment Set using Autumn Rose ink from Papertrey Ink, mounted my panel in the center of a top fold card base using foam tape and finished off with a few snowdrift sprinkles from Little Things from Lucy’s Cards. I love these sprinkles!!

I stuck to a pretty limited color palette, I feel, but there’s still a lot of markers.

Today’s the last day of the annual holiday sale over at Purple Onion Designs, so this is a gentle reminder to head over there, fill your cart with stamps at 25 % off, and check out.

Happy mail {Purple Onion Designs}

Hi, crafty friends. I have a fun card to share today, featuring Happy Mail from Purple Onion Designs, illustrated by Pei. This image is from this year’s Season’s Greetings collection from Pei. I love her illustration style, and whenever there’s a penguin, I’m sold. Speaking of sold, the annual holiday sale is underway at Purple Onion Designs. Pretty much everything (with a few exceptions) is at 25 % off. The offer ends this Sunday (December 8th, 2024), so there’s plenty of time to browse the Purple Onion website and pick up favorites!

I suggest you put this image in your cart, it’s so awesome. I colored it with my Copics, adding an actual no line horizon behind my critters to complete the wintry scene, before using a die from the Nesting Postage Stamps infinity die set from Hero Arts to turn it into a huge postage stamp. I then used the Vintage Holiday Postmark Set along with the wavy lines from the Vintage PostCARD set to add to the postage feel. I used Lazy Day ink from My Favorite Things, which matches the blue in my coloring pretty nicely.

I created a top fold card base from Pure Poppy cardstock from Papertrey Ink, mounted my large postage stamp using lots of foam tape and adhered a few Snowdrift sprinkles from Little Things from Lucy’s Cards to finish.

I actually used red markers for red this time, with a little bit of B14 where I wanted it to be darker than R29 can create on its own. I usually use earth tones for red, this was a fun change.

Express delivery from the North Pole {Rachelle Anne Miller}

Hi, crafty friends. I’m still in the midst of creating holiday cards. Christmas is in exactly one month, and it snowed today as I was working on this card featuring Snowman’s Gift from Rachelle Anne Miller. I definitely went with a non traditional color palette this time, even choosing purple voluntarily. It doesn’t happen often, probably not even once a year.

I printed the image onto X-Press It blending card and colored it with my Copics, going for a couple of different purple combos – one dark for the snowman’s hat and scarf, another for the cute little bird. I chose a deep pink combo for the present and the bird’s accessories to bring in another color. I die cut my panel using a rectangle die from Waffle Flower, then went in with a snowflake stencil from Ciao Bella and some Lilac ink from Concord & 9th. I then added VersaMark on top and sprinkled on Iridescent Sparkle embossing powder from JudiKins to turn the snowflakes sparkly once the powder melted.

I stamped a sentiment from the Julehilsen stamp set from byCino using Autumn Rose ink from Papertrey Ink. The sentiment translates to “Express delivery from the North Pole” and was the perfect size for my chosen placement. I adhered a quarter sheet of Autumn Rose cardstock from Papertrey Ink onto a white card base and mounted the colored panel in the center, before finishing off with sequins and raindrops from the She’s So Lovely mix from Little Things from Lucy’s Cards.

Lots of purple. I can do hard things (using purple is HARD).

Spreading holiday cheer {Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios}

Hi, crafty friends. I’m sharing a sweet holiday card today, featuring one of my all time favorite stamps from Rachelle Anne Miller. This is Penguin Hug. Rachelle created this illustration many many moons ago, and I remembered it so fondly that I described it to her a few years back and asked her if it was possible to turn it into a stamp. She did, and I’ve used it plenty of times, it’s such a good one and I absolutely love it!!!

I printed the image onto X-Press It blending card and colored it with my Copics, creating a soft winter sunset behind the cute penguins. From white cardstock (Stamper’s Select White from Papertrey Ink), I die cut a frame using the Winter Wonderland window die from Lawn Fawn and adhered it to my colored piece.

I used the Magic Snow Cover die from Mama Elephant to create texture and interest to a piece of Cornflower cardstock from My Favorite Things, which I adhered to my top fold card base. I added some dimension behind my winter wonderland window and adhered it in the center of the card. I stamped a sentiment from the Holiday messages stamp set from Mama Elephant onto Nectar cardstock from Concord & 9th using Grapefruit ink, also from Concord & 9th, cut it down to a strip and added it to my frame with a couple of extra layers of cardstock behind it for dimension, before finishing off with sequins from the Ivory Sequin mix from Little Things from Lucy’s Cards.

I used a fairly limited color palette for this card. I also used B20, which is a color I’ve created myself.

Have a holly jolly Christmas {Mo’s Digital Pencil}

Hi, crafty friends. I have a simple holiday card to share today, featuring Sneaking a peek from Mo Manning. I’ve used this image in the past, it’s so cute and quick to color.

I colored the image with Copics and fussy cut it. It’s an easy one to fussy cut, so that helps. I die cut a frame from the Mega Snowflake Cover die set from Mama Elephant three times from white cardstock, stacked them and adhered the stack to a card base I created from Blue Breeze cardstock from My Favorite Things, before mounting the image with foam squares.

I used one of the dies in the Jolly Holiday Greetings die set from Concord & 9th to die cut a few times from white cardstock and stacked those as well. I adhered the stacked die cut to my card base. I stamped and white heat embossed a sentiment from the Itty Bitty Holiday stamp set from My Favorite Things onto Amarena Cherry cardstock from My Favorite Things, cut the sentiment apart and used part of it to complete the sentiment on the card, before finishing off with a few pearls from the Glossy Porcelain mix from Little Things from Lucy’s Cards.

Simple color palette.

Merry Christmas {Rachelle Anne Miller}

Hi, crafty friends! It’s a well known fact that I’m a sucker for penguins, so I was over the moon for this month’s release from Rachelle Anne Miller. It’s the Penguin Party scene creator set, which is geared toward celebrations with balloons, party hats, presents and little pennant flags. I created a birthday card with this set earlier in the month. Today, I chose a penguin that doesn’t have any accessories besides a scarf and created a holiday card.

I colored my penguin with Copics, fussy cut him and used a black Glaze pen to add shine to his eyes, before putting him aside while I worked on the rest of my card.

I really wanted to use the big MERRY greeting in the Merry Trees stamp set from Kristina Werner. I love her cleanly designed products, they’re right up my alley, and this greeting makes a statement. I stamped with VersaMark onto Juniper cardstock from Concord & 9th, before sprinkling on super fine detail embossing powder from Ranger, which I then heat set. I die cut an additional four layers of the letters from white cardstock and stacked them with the green on top.

I used the Berries & Boughs embossing folder from Concord & 9th to create a little bit of interest to the background. I trimmed my white dry embossed panel slightly and adhered it to a black cardstock panel that I adhered to a top fold white card base. I arranged my merry letters on the front of the card, added my penguin with foam tape and also added a white on black heat embossed sub sentiment from the Christmas Greetings stamp set from Lili of the Valley.

I added a few pearls from the Glossy Porcelain mix from Little Things from Lucy’s Cards to finish. I love how I was able to turn this cute party penguin into a holiday penguin, and I’m kind of liking the untraditional Christmas palette of green and black.

I messed around with a few greens to find the right combo to somewhat match my green cardstock. If it hadn’t been for that, this would have been a very limited color palette.
