Dust Fairy {CopicMarkerNorge}

07 bursdag Emma front skrått PhotoshopAppropriate title for a blog entry considering it’s been a few weeks since my last one. Yikes! Sometimes life just gets too busy. It’s not that I haven’t made any cards recently, because I have, but they’re either not completely finished or just not ready for the world wide web quite yet. I could make up some excuse about not writing any entries because my new laptop keys haven’t arrived yet, making it difficult to type (which is totally true, btw), but I won’t. 😉

07 bursdag Emma frontThis card was made to order for a woman who just turned 60. She cleans floors, and although I couldn’t find an image of an old lady with a bucket and a mop, I did find this Mo Manning fairy dust image, which I think fits. This card also happens to be my contribution to our current challenge at CopicMarkerNorge – anything goes. There are still plenty of days left before the Sunday deadline, so join us, won’t you? I printed the image in brown on Perfect Colouring Paper. I couldn’t find my X-Press It at the time, and I’ve got plenty of PCP. I don’t really like PCP to color on, so I even used it for the insides and the back of the card. I’m sure it’s no surprise that I’ve used patterned paper by Maja Design. This time I pulled out some scraps (this card is made entirely from scraps!) from the Vintage Summer Basics line (1922, 1923, and 1899), as well as some Inkido scraps – the cream one is “Pink Newspaper”, and I don’t know what the blue one’s called, only that it’s by Inkido. Bazzill Vanilla cardstock (as usual), paired with Bazzill Dotted Swiss – Romantic Mauve (also scraps, btw). The sentiment on the banner is from the “Mum’s the Word” stamp set from Papertrey Ink.

07 bursdag Emma innside 1I didn’t really have a lot of time with this card, it was thrown together in less than a day, including coloring, which – for me – is warp speed. This meant really simple insides, the first one includes a stamped sentiment from the “Over Under Easy” stamp set by Papertrey Ink, stamped in Autumn Rose ink – also from PTI.

07 bursdag Emma innside 2The second inside is just as simple. Just a birthday stamp (from the same stamp set as the first inside) and a few really dark pink pearls from Inkido in the bottom right corner. I needed a really big panel on the inside, there were 30 different signatures going on this card, so I had to make sure there was plenty of space.

07 bursdag Emma baksideThe back – pretty similar to the front. The lovely edge of the blue paper is made with a Magnolia die (Old Swedish Lace). I’m not too sure where the flowers are from, some are from Wild Orchid Crafts, others might be from Papirloftet (yes, I’m a paper flower hoarder – who isn’t?) The letters and numbers are diecut from the patterned paper using the Santa’s workshop alphabet by Quickutz. It’s an alphabet I really, really like, the size is perfect and the alphabet itself is sans serif, another huge pluss (although I do like Tim Holtz’ typeset alphabet, which is definitely not sans…)! I prefer the much cleaner, graphic look of sans serif types to serif ones (there are a few slab serifs I like, though)!

07 Emma bursdag Mo Manning housework fairy CopicsEnough about my preferences in type faces – these are the colors I used for the dust fairy. I also used RV97, which is a color I’ve made myself.

Happy birthday {CopicMarkerNorge}

CMN 50 skrått front PhotoshopOur current challenge at CopicMarkerNorge is a bingo one. There’s still a couple of days left before the deadline, feel free to join us!

CMN 50 front Sureya PoliciaMy card for the challenge is a birthday card I sent to our CMN boss lady Siv, her birthday is today. I chose to do a magic card this time, the center part is about 6×6″, so this card is quite large. I’ve taken out products that I rarely use for this one – patterned paper by Melissa Frances (Betty-Ann), Patternscape Design (Brokade 2), and 7 Dots Studio (Love Me), along with Prima flowers. The “wings” are made using a Martha Stewart PATP punch (Vintage Lace) on the Bazzill Rain cardstock. I’ve also used a Magnolia doohickey die (Antique Lace) for the horizontal panel on the center of the card front, and the edges are inked with Creamy Brown ink.

Sureya PoliciaThe image is “Policia” by Sureya on DeviantArt, colored (of course) with Copics. The colors I’ve used are at the bottom of the post. The image is diecut with a Lifestyle Crafts circle die.

kort til Siv blomster forside detaljA closer look at the flowers, I’ve also used some pearl stamens by Kort & Godt that I’ve tucked underneath the flowers. I hardly ever use Prima flowers, not because I don’t like them, but because they’re difficult to combine with roses and because this particular corally salmon pink color (shockingly, it’s the only color I have) is a tricky one. The color did, however, match the 7 Dots paper perfectly, making it an easy choice!!

kort til Siv innsideOn the first inside I’ve stamped a birthday song (stamp by North Star Stamps) with Memento Rich Cocoa ink on a piece of Vanilla cardstock I’ve diecut with a Spellbinders die (from Grand Decorative Circles One). I airbrushed the diecut with BG53 and 45 before removing the cardstock from the die. I added FabScraps pearls around the circle.

kort til Siv innside med lommeOn the second inside I’ve made a pocket to make room for a tag with a personal greeting, diecut using a Magnolia Doohickey die (Jolly Tags). I’ve added a seam binding bow to the tag and a jute string bow on top with a button from My Mind’s Eye to finish it off. The Stempelglede text stamp on the pocket is stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and I’ve added 3 pearls from Kort & Godt as the last little finish on this second inside.

kort til Siv baksideThe back. Another Stempelglede text stamp and some more airbrushing. The hydrangeas are from Petaloo.

Sureya Policia CopicsThe colors I’ve used for the image on this card. Surprisingly few colors given that the image is fairly intricate.

Vinterlig bursdag

Bursdagskort Heidi Justinklined - Robin on a watering can CopicsTil slutt: fargene jeg har brukt på motivet.

Mye nytt {Copic Marker Norge}, {North Star Stamps}, {Ett Trykk}
