Til konfirmanten {Kort & Godt}

Hi, crafty friends. I’m sharing a confirmation card today, created for the Kort og Godt galleri blog. This card came together surprisingly easily and quickly. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

I started by choosing an image to be the focal point of my card. I ink smooshed Gravel Gray and Eiffel Tower inks from My Favorite Things onto the background to mimic the background in the photo. This adds a little bit of interest to the background without being too distracting. I also used the Kaleidoscope embossing folder from Simon Says Stamp on the card base for added texture.

I placed the image at an angle in the bottom left corner of the card and cut off the excess hanging off the side and the bottom. I decided to mount it on foam tape for a little more interest, then  used pre printed stickers to add my sentiments. I love these things, they make adding sentiments soooo easy. I put foam squares on the back of these for even more lift off the card base – dimension is life, after all. I used black gems to frame the sentiments as a finishing touch.

Dimension really is life!

I die cut the word konfirmant and the individual letters for the recipient’s name in white cardstock and adhered them to a black envelope. The black and white ties in with the card nicely.

Hipp hurra {Kort & Godt}

Hi, crafty friends. I’m back with a simple birthday card today, made for the Kort og godt galleri blog. I made a 4 bar card this time, I love playing with this smaller size from time to time.

I started by drawing the balloons for my background with a 0.3 mm mechanical pencil. I erased most of the pencil lines before coloring, as Copic will trap pencil, making it impossible to erase after coloring. I wanted a no line look for these, and the half erased lines were enough for me to see where to add my Copics. Balloons are actually pretty easy to draw, it’s basically an upside down egg. If you don’t want to draw yourself, there are lots of balloon stencils on the market that you can use as a guide, or even a die cut balloon that you trace. I colored in my balloons, two of each color, added the panel to a top fold 4 bar card base I created from white cardstock and drew in balloon strings using a 0.35 Copic multiliner.

For a sentiment, I die cut the Hipp hurra die from Kort & Godt five times and stacked them for a dimensional look. I cut four from white cardstock and one from gold shine cardstock and topped the stack with that. I added some gems from the ST210 pack of gems to finish.

I mostly used three colors for the gradient on each of the balloons, but the yellow balloons have four.

Du er helt fantastisk {Kort & Godt}

Hi, crafty friends. I’m over on the Kort & Godt galleri blog today with this simple hug card.

The weather’s finally improving, and things grow greener and greener with every passing day, so I thought a floral background would be perfect for this card. I die cut masking paper using the Lenten Rose mini slimline die from Crafty Meraki. I had to do quite a bit of puzzle piecing of the masking paper to ink up the different sections in different colors, but I think the end result is worth it. The colors I used are all from Concord & 9th, they are Wildberry, Sweet Pea, Sunflower and Harbor.

Using the matching color cardstock to the blue in the background (Harbor from Concord & 9th), I die cut klem three times for a stacked, dimensional look and adhered it to my background, adding a sentiment sticker on top. To finish off the card, I added a few faceted pearls near the sentiment.

Varme tanker {Kort & Godt}

Hi, crafty friends. I’m sharing a one layer sympathy card today, featuring a stamp set from Kort & Godt.

I started by ink blending directly on the card base. I used the Window Panes stencil from My Favorite Things, and Scattered Straw and Mustard Seed Distress inks.

I stamped the image and sentiment using Obsidian ink from Altenew and did some very light pencil coloring using my Prismacolor Premier pencils. I used Goldenrod (1034), Yellow Ochre (942) and Cream (914) for the yellow, and Olivegreen (911) and Limepeel (1005) for the green. I decided not to add embellishments, so this is truly a one layer card, as everything is done on the card base itself.

Hug to you from me {Kort & Godt}

Hi, crafty friends. I have a super simple, yet a little artsy card to share today, featuring a couple of stamps and some string from Kort & Godt.

I started by stamping and heat embossing the sentiment directly on the card base, which I created from Stamper’s Select White cardstock from Papertrey Ink. I stamped in Obsidian ink from Altenew and used clear embossing powder from Ranger. This is my preferred way to get a black embossing, as black embossing powder is tricky to work with. Once the sentiment was in place, I used the Watercolor Stripes stencil from Altenew and masked off the stripe that showed the sentiment through the opening. I ink blended using Avocado, Cobblestone, Briar Rose and Carnation inks from Concord & 9th, as well as Pink Crystal Fresh dye ink from Altenew.

I wanted some black splatters on my card and used a size 4 paint brush with My Favorite Things Extreme Black reinker to get those black spots. I may have gone a little overboard, but I still like it. I stamped and heat embossed onto vellum a leaf image from the same stamp set as the sentiment, fussy cut it and colored the leaves from the back using my YG25 Copic marker. The vellum is heavyweight translucent vellum from My Favorite Things. I adhered the vellum piece to my card and finished off with a pink bow.

Hug {Kort & Godt}

Hi, crafty friends. I’m sharing a very blue card today, that I shared on the Kort & Godt gallery blog earlier in the week. It’s no secret that blue’s my favorite color, and the forgetmenots in this basket were screaming at me to use them.

I die cut the image into a circle and put lots of foam tape on the back. I created a card base from Periwinkle cardstock from Hero Arts, and used the Angled Mosaic 3D embossing folder from Altenew to create some fun texture.

I added the circle to the top center, die cut the word klem (hug) three times from Something Blue cardstock from My Favorite Things, stacked the three for dimension and adhered the top of the letters to the bottom of the circle. This creates a shadow on the bottom half of the letters that I wouldn’t get if I had created additional layers and adhered the die cut directly on the card base. Because the die cut is three layers thick, it won’t get squished in the mail even though it’s floating. I added a sentiment sticker strip on top of the die cut and finished off with a couple of faceted pearls.

Hipp hipp hurra til dagens mann {Kort & Godt}

Hi, crafty friends. I’m sharing a simple birthday card today for the Kort & Godt gallery blog. I’ve used a new image sheet and kept the rest of the card simple.

I started by ink blending directly on the card base using the Bokeh Elements stencil Duo from Waffle Flower and inks from Altenew (Cloudy Sky) and Simon Says Stamp (Orange Peel and Sunshine). I die cut a circle from white cardstock, used the same colors to ink blend on that, and then adhered the image on top, which I die cut with a slightly smaller circle die.

I mounted my circles on foam tape, cut off the excess, then added a couple of pre cut stickers to finish off the card. I love these stickers!

Here’s a hug… and a little hip hip! {Kort & Godt}

Hi, crafty friends! Today, I’m sharing something that’s a bit unusual for me – it’s a card without an image. I’m a colorist at heart, and find cards without an image more challenging to create, but boy, is it fun when everything works out. I’ll admit I was on the struggle bus for this card that I made for the Kort & Godt gallery blog, but it came together in the end.

I started with an A2 top fold white card base. I stamped and white heat embossed two stamps repeatedly across the background, before ink blending on top with Distress Oxide inks. From bottom to top, I used Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio, Twisted Citron and Fossilized Amber. I die cut klem four times from True Black cardstock from Papertrey Ink and stamped and heat embossed coordinating sentiments. I figured they’d be too tall if I cut them down to regular sentiment strips, so I fussy cut around them. So far, so good, right? Yeah, that’s when I hopped on the struggle bus. I figured the sentiment on its own was a bit meh against the background, and it wasn’t exactly revolutionary. Also, the first part of the sentiment was floating on its own, which I also didn’t like too much.

I used a leaf die to cut some leaves from vellum (Heavyweight Translucent Vellum from My Favorite Things), hoping that would work. It helped, but the first part of the sentiment was still floating. I needed an anchor point. I tried adding some thread on the side. Better already. I decided to cut a half circle notch from the bottom and top of the card for the thread to be looped around. Two strands each of three colors that matched the card. I was quite happy with that and decided to add the die cut word, and also adhered the stamped pieces of the sentiment on top of the die cut. Instant anchor points, and the first part of the sentiment was no longer floating on its own. I finished off with diamonds that framed the sentiment, and felt like it all ended up as a cohesive design in the end, even if it took me a while to get there.

To the happy couple {Kort & Godt}

Hi, crafty friends. Today’s card is a simple wedding card I created for the Kort & Godt galleri blog.

I used the Circular Lace stencil from Simon Says Stamp and ink blended white hybrid ink from Papertrey Ink onto the card base, which I created from Lavender Moon cardstock, also from Papertrey Ink.

I used pink thread to create a little bit of texture on the background. I created three holes at the top center of the card to loop my thread through and tied a bow. I die cut the image using a circle die, added foam tape to the back and adhered it to my threaded background, before adding a “Gratulerer” sticker using a few foam squares for additional lift. I also did the same with a few sticker sentiment strips, and my card was complete.

Rumor says it’s your birthday {Kort & Godt}

Hi, crafty friends, and happy new year! I thought it was about time I created something besides holiday cards, so today’s card is a very colorful, very happy birthday card, featuring a new die set from Kort & Godt.

I used the Big Balloons stencil from My Favorite Things and did a rainbow of balloons going across the card. Each balloon is a gradient color, from dark at the bottom right, to a lot lighter at the top left. I used sooooo many ink colors to achieve this look.

Blue balloon: Azurite and Ultramarine – both from Altenew

Turquoise balloon: Starlight, Tide Blue, Turquoise – all from Altenew

Green balloon: Shadow Creek, Grass Field – both from Altenew

Yellow balloon: Distress Ink Mustard Seed, Distress Ink Squeezed Lemonade

Orange balloon: Simon Says Stamp Orange Peel, Distress Ink Spiced Marmalade

Red balloon: Heart Beat, Coral Bliss, Pink Pearl – all from Altenew

Pink balloon: My Favorite Things Poppin’ Pink, Distress Ink Picked Raspberry

Purple balloon: Deep Iris, Lavender Fields, Soft Lilac – all from Altenew

Once all the balloons were done, I drew string using a 0.35 black Copic multiliner.

I die cut the word bursdag from Gold Shine cardstock from My Favorite Things. This is a very dainty die cut, so I chose to put double sided adhesive (I used a sheet from Altenew) on the back of the cardstock before die cutting, which made everything easy once it came to assembly. I die cut the shadow layer from True Black cardstock from Papertrey Ink and used black foam tape to pop it up in the center of my card. I used some sticker strips to fill out my sentiment, and added those using foam tape as well, before finishing off with a little gold bling.
